The Memphis Grizzlies should think long and hard about making Desmond Bane available in future trade talks

Entering just his second season out of Texas Christian University, Desmond Bane has shown the ability to deliver as the shooting guard of the future for the Grizzlies.

Bane scored a career-high 22 points last season (two different times) and displayed a maturity that few rookies ever have. Bane was called upon numerous times in late-game scenarios as a rookie, oftentimes delivering.

In his first-ever trip to the playoffs, the rookie had a fantastic series for the Memphis Grizzlies.

Bane shot 58% from the field, including 50% from three — and these weren’t garbage minutes, Bane averaged just under 20 minutes per game in the 1st round series against the Utah Jazz.

Bane followed up a great showing in the playoffs with a stellar NBA Summer League performance during this offseason, averaging 21.5ppg. It included a 32 point outing against San Antonio’s Summer League squad in which went 6-of-8 from the three-point line.

Bane is going to continue to grow his game and will be the perfect complement to Ja Morant for years to come.
