Player No. 3: Memphis Grizzlies wing Jarrett Culver

Jarrett Culver actually finds himself in an extremely familiar situation. Why is it familiar, you ask? Well, we just talked about it in the last slide.

Culver is another player who was highly-touted in the NBA Draft before having a disappointing NBA career. Fortunately for Culver, however, he hasn’t been entirely written off quite yet. The wing is only 22 years old, leaving a lot of room for growth with the Memphis Grizzlies. He fits in with the general age range of this roster and could be a huge piece down the road.

But he has to prove it first.

As things stand, it’s unclear exactly what Culver’s role is going to look like on this Grizzlies team. Heck, we’re not even entirely sure that Zach Kleiman and his busy front office plans to keep Culver around.

Still, it’s obvious that Culver is a huge asset to this team. Unlike Dunn, Culver never truly had a chance to shine. The former sixth-overall pick was essentially forced out of a terrible Minnesota Timberwolves organization after they picked up Anthony Edwards with the top overall pick in the draft. He’ll get another chance with the Grizzlies.

During 2021 NBA Training Camp, Culver has to prove that he has a spot on this team. As things stand, his role going forward is unclear. The Grizzlies already have a defense-first wing in Dillon Brooks. Heck, they have a few if you consider De’Anthony Melton and Kyle Anderson to be wings.

That said, this is Culver’s chance to let the Grizzlies know that he belongs on this team.
