No 3. Steven Adams set the franchise record for offensive rebounds
Has there been an NBA player this season who has benefited more from a change of scenery as much as Steven Adams?
The big man has been spectacular for the Memphis Grizzlies, serving as a glue guy that fills any shortcomings of his teammates.
Adams has been the top offensive rebounder in the NBA this season, which has translated into breaking the record for most offensive boards in team history. Those rebounds create valuable second chance opportunities for the team’s offense.
On March 26, the New Zealander surpassed Zach Randolph for the most offensive rebounds in a single season in franchise history.
Back in 2009-10, Z-Bo pulled in 330 offensive rebounds. Adams is at 343 and counting with three games to go.
No 2. Ja Morant became first Memphis Grizzlies player to score 50+ in a game
All-Star guard Ja Morant became the first player in team history to score 50 or more points in a game when he erupted for 52 points on Feb. 28 vs the Spurs.
Morant became a bonafide MVP candidate after that game, which saw him put on a dazzling array of highlight moves and jaw-dropping finishes.
Morant will finish this season with the highest ppg average in team history, as well. His 27.6 ppg is 4.6 ppg more than the previous record-holder Shareef Abdur-Rahim (1998-99).
What can’t the superstar do? He amazes on the court and off the court. He can drain some tequila shots with Gunna one night and hand out Grizzlies jerseys to kids pre-game the next night.
Morant is a walking bucket. He’s increased his ppg by 8.5 points from last season. He’s in some conversations to get MVP votes and even more for NBA Most Improved Player.
