Memphis Grizzlies first round opponent will be one of these two teams
One of the most successful and historic regular seasons in Memphis Grizzlies history reached its conclusion April 10 with a loss to the Boston Celtics.
Fortunately, the game didn’t really have any impact on the playoffs, so Head Coach Taylor Jenkins rested his key contributors and allowed the reserve players a chance to play a lot of minutes.
It enabled John Konchar to get his first career triple-double and it gave the Grizzlies one last look at Jarrett Culver and what his future might hold.
The team now enters postseason mode and will look to improve upon last year’s first-round exit. The No. 8 Grizzlies were able to win one game against the top-ranked Utah Jazz in the 2021 playoffs.
Who will the Memphis Grizzlies play in the first round of the 2022 NBA Playoffs?
The Memphis Grizzlies will have to wait until April 12 to find out who they’ll play in the first round of the playoffs. They will play the winner of one of the Western Conference Play-In games, the No. 7 vs No. 8 game, specifically.
That game will feature the Los Angeles Clippers playing at the Minnesota Timberwolves. Whichever team wins that game will travel to Memphis to take on the Grizzlies in the first round.
The Grizzlies will have home-court advantage against either team and will enjoy that advantage against any Western Conference opponent not named the Phoenix Suns.
The Grizzlies were 4-0 against the Clippers this season, winning by an average of 14.7 points this season.
Against the Timberwolves, Memphis was an even 2-2. They are one of only two teams in the Western Conference playoffs in which they do not have a winning record against this season.
Whoever their opponent, the Grizzlies are going to have their hands full against two talented teams.
