The Memphis Grizzlies have ended the regular season tied for the most wins in franchise history (56) and broke countless other records during the historic 2021-22 regular season.

One thing that we haven’t taken a look at is the number of fines the Memphis Grizzlies players received this year from the NBA.

Only seven players on the team received fines this season, nearly all stemming from technical fouls committed in various games.

Ja Morant, Dillon Brooks, Steven Adams, Kyle Anderson, Ziaire Williams, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Desmond Bane are the ones on record having paid fines this season, according to Spotrac.

Memphis Grizzlies players paid nearly $100,000 in fines this season

In a surprise to no one, Dillon Brooks is the Grizzlies player who paid the most in fines this season, accounting for more than half of the team’s total amount.

Brooks paid $58,000 in fines this season, which is about double what the average Memphian makes in a whole year, according to US Census data.

Brooks paid $31,000 in fines due to technical fouls, $2,000 due to ejections, and $25,000 for “aggressively confronting a game official and failing to leave the court in a timely manner upon his ejection” towards the end of the Dec. 8 game vs the Dallas Mavericks, according to the NBA.

You can see the incident here.

Ja Morant was the next player who accrued the most in fines this season at $15,000. Steven Adams and Desmond Bane were far behind tied for third place with $6,000 in fines each.

Kyle Anderson, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Ziaire Williams all paid less than $4,000 in fines each this season due to technical fouls.

The team now turns its attention to the 2022 NBA Playoffs. The Grizzlies will host either the Minnesota Timberwolves or Los Angeles Clippers in the first round.
