The Memphis Grizzlies may face an uphill battle in trying to re-sign Tyus Jones when he becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.

There have been rumblings that Tyus Jones may entertain offers from teams in which he can be a starter, something he’s never been able to do full-time since entering the league in 2015.

It’s likely the Grizzlies are going to push hard to try and retain Jones, but the allure of a full-time role as a starter may prove too much for the young veteran to resist.

Jones, who led the NBA in assist-to-turnover ration is the king of taking care of the basketball (just 0.6 turnovers per game). He also averaged 8.7 PPG, 4.4 APG, and 2.4 RPG in 21.2 minutes per game during the 2021-22 regular season.

We’re taking a look at five teams who may be a threat to sign Tyus Jones away from the team this offseason.

Will the Washington Wizards lure Tyus Jones away from Memphis Grizzlies?

The Wizards are reportedly going to re-sign Bradley Beal to a max contract this offseason, proving that the All-Star guard wants to build a contented team in DC.

The team has some really interesting pieces on their roster, but a good starting point guard is not one of them. HoopsHype reports there could be a realistic chance for the Wizards to land the former Duke standout.

"Add free agent point guard Tyus Jones to the long list of point guards the Washington Wizards have on their radar, league sources told HoopsHype. Washington has the full non-taxpayer mid-level exception heading into free agency and could potentially provide Jones an opportunity to start, which he ideally desires."

The Wizards have been linked to Malcolm Brogdon, who’s under contract with the Indiana Pacers as well. If they miss out on a trade for Brogdon, the team could turn it’s attention to Jones.
