Kennedy Chandler could be a long-term fit for the Memphis Grizzlies

Kennedy Chandler started in the first preseason game against the Bucks (both Ja Morant and Tyus Jones did not play) and he didn’t disappoint.

He finished the game with 11 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals in 29 minutes of play, completely holding his own while going up against proven veterans, like Jrue Holiday and Jevon Carter.

He was very aggressive driving to the basket and showcased his feel for the game with his passing and off-ball movement. His speed and athleticism can help him survive in the NBA and is also fit with the Memphis Grizzlies’ style of play.

He wasn’t used much in the rest of the games, since Ja Morant and Tyus Jones were suited up. He’s on his rookie contract and he will be part of the team as the third point guard, which most likely means he won’t get any meaningful minutes.

However, being mentored by both Ja and Tyus will be huge for his growth during his rookie season and will ease his way into the pros. His potential, alongside with the special relationship he has with Ja, could make him the Grizzlies backup point guard of the future.
