Ex-Grizzlies guard signs with title favorite, joins forces with 6-time All-Star

Last season’s Memphis Grizzlies team registered a whopping 51 wins and, in turn, clinched their second straight number-two seed finish in the Western Conference standings. This type of outcome is a testimony to how well-coached this club is combined with just how well-rounded their roster was during the campaign.
That said, their talent pool saw numerous shakeups throughout the year, with a number of players starting the season in Grind City, only to finish 2022-23 off in another zip code.
Veteran swingman Danny Green was one of these individuals, as he was acquired during the summer coming in, though wound up seeing a mere three outings with the Grizzlies before being shipped out to the Houston Rockets via trade on February 9.
Following the conclusion of the season, the 36-year-old became an unrestricted free agent and was continuously being overlooked by organizations scouring the market, as less accomplished commodities were being signed to new deals while Green remained untouched.
Fast forward to September 6, however, and the wing’s free agency slide has seemingly come to an end, as he agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, which is presumed to be in the ballpark of a veteran minimum contract at a worth of $2.7 million.

This will mark the veteran’s second stint in the City of Brotherly Love, as he served as a regular starter for the Sixers over a two-year span from 2020 to 2022 before being traded to Memphis last offseason.
Green is a three-time NBA Champion and has four trips to the NBA Finals under his belt. Throughout his soon-to-be 15-year league tenure, the two-guard has made a name for himself serving as a trusty 3&D role player while sporting averages of 8.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.0 steals, and just shy of a block per game on 40.0 percent shooting from deep.
He now heads back to Philadelphia — a destination he believed to be a good fit for his services — to join forces with reigning league MVP and six-time NBA All-Star Joel Embiid as he and his squad look to crack the code of the rigorous postseason that has continuously held them short of so much as a Conference Finals berth.
During his previous two-year run with the Sixers, Green boasted averages of 7.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.2 steals, and just shy of a block on 39.5 percent shooting from deep.
