Superstar Ja Morant is coming into his fifth season as a member of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Following a tremendous 2022-23 campaign, the hope now is that the centerpiece can take yet another step forward with his progressions and help guide this club on a long and prosperous postseason run, with eyes set on claiming the franchise’s first-ever NBA Championship.

Though fans and media analysts have faith that Memphis has the potential to accomplish great things in 2023-24, before they can even consider reaching such heights they’ll need to try and weather the initial 25-game storm to kick off the upcoming season that is Morant’s league-issued suspension.

As a result of yet another gun-related off-court incident, the point guard will now be held out of in-game action through mid-December, with a possible return date being the 19th.

However, though his presence will be missed on the hardwood to start the new season, one major question many have when it comes to the 24-year-old is whether he will also be banished from participating in workouts and practices at the team’s facilities during this time frame.

Recently, the folks at NBA.com asked coach Taylor Jenkins for any possible clarity on this matter. Unfortunately, the Grizzlies’ headman seemed to be just as curious about the star’s status as anyone else.

Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins is unsure if Ja Morant will be permitted to practice

"“There are still details being figured out. Our anticipation, our hope is that he can be around the team as much as possible. But there’s more dialogue [with the NBA] to be had,” Jenkins wrote."

One of the most electrifying talents the game has ever seen at his respective position, the Grizzlies star is coming off yet another tremendous season where he posted stellar averages of 26.2 points, 8.1 assists, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.1 steals on 46.6 percent shooting from the field.

Though his absence will be felt during the first two months of the year, hopefully, upon his return to the lineup, Morant can jump right back into action and produce at the high-end level he’s grown accustomed to playing at.

Being granted permission to workout and train with his fellow teammates throughout his upcoming hiatus would be a major plus for both the guard and the Grizzlies as a whole.

Sadly, there currently seems to be no confirmation one way or the other on such a matter.
