While Cam Boozer to Memphis was still the most likely outcome heading into draft night, it still doesn't feel real quite yet. This was the highest pick that the Grizzlies have made since selecting Ja Morant second overall in the 2019 NBA Draft. But now, Cam Boozer is one of the most talented Grizzlies prospects ever selected, and it hasn't taken him long to win over the fans.
The Grizzlies rookies, Cam Boozer, Karim Lopez, and Richie Saunders, were introduced for the first time, and there is understandably a lot of buzz in the Grizzlies fanbase. After what looks like a very strong draft on paper, the Grizzlies also went out and got the ultimate culture fit and rim protection boost they needed in Isaiah Stewart.
It looks like the Grizzlies are inching closer to the toughness of the Grit and Grind Era, and they have no better option to lead it than Cam Boozer. Despite how painful this past season was, it is not difficult to see why Grizzlies fans are already so excited.
Coach can’t even contain his smile man we are going to have a fun year😂 https://t.co/4eDSQvIKHp

Cam Boozer is already bringing the right mindset
Despite being set to turn 19 years old next month, it is impressive to see the confidence and willingness to lead that Cam Boozer is already bringing. Boozer was asked by Matt Infield of WMC Action News 5, if he has a chip on his shoulder since he did not go #1 overall in this year's draft even if he belonged in that conversation. Boozer had the following to say:
"I think most definitely. You know, I think it's like you said; that's how I feel, and I think just being here in this organization and seeing the vision of this team, I think there's no reason why that's not achievable for me. You know I think a lot of it comes with team success, and I think being here is really exciting to see what we can do. But I mean there's definitely a chip on my shoulder." - Cam Boozer
It is extremely exciting to see the faith that Boozer has in the vision of a Grizzlies team in the beginning of what could be a short rebuild. Despite the fact that there was a strong argument for Boozer to go #1, it is still great to see how much he is already embracing Memphis as his new home.
Boozer also seems prepared to embrace the pressure of being a face of the franchise and went on to state his desire to become one of the greatest to play the game. Given how young Boozer still is and the fact he was so accomplished at the high school and college levels, he is in the perfect spot to evolve into an elite NBA player very quickly.
While his expectations are extremely high, it is simply difficult to bet against him given how productive he has been at every level. Boozer already showed off an advanced skillset at Duke that can end up translating right away. It is also a bit odd to see how downplayed his upside was compared to other top prospects in this draft despite being the youngest player in the top 4.
The Grizzlies are off to an extremely strong start this offseason, and Cam Boozer has the perfect opportunity to take the team to another level.
