The Memphis Grizzlies extended their winning streak to four games after their 138-107 defeat of the Toronto Raptors on February 5th. They had six players score in double figures, led by Jaren Jackson Jr.'s 32 points (his third consecutive game of scoring 30+) and 26 points by Ja Morant.
The game also represented the healthiest the Grizzlies have been this season with the return of Vince Williams Jr. and Marcus Smart to the lineup. Desmond Bane was the only active roster player to miss the game due to an ankle sprain (two-way guard Cam Spencer was put with thumb surgery).
The victory also gave the Grizzlies their 10th win in their last 11 games while breaking another franchise record after breaking their single-game franchise record for points scored against the Raptors last month.
Grizzlies broke franchise record for scoring 130+ points
The 138 points Memphis scored against the Raptors marked the 16th time this season that the team has scored over 130 points this season, breaking their previous record of 15 such games during the 2022-23 season. With 31 games remaining this season, it is safe to assume that the Grizzlies will extend that record.
The Grizzlies continue to lead the NBA in scoring averaging 123.5 points per game, signaling how far the franchise has come in the scoring department. The team scored 85 second-half points against the Raptors after trailing by six points at halftime and did it with ease.
Their second victory over the Raptors also marked the first time they have swept the season series against them since the 2012-13 season. Toronto swept the season series over Memphis four times within that time span before the teams split the season series the last four regular seasons.
The Grizzlies offense has really transcended this season as their record-breaking 16th 130+ games is more than the total amount (13) of the same scoring games they had from 1995 to 2019. Along with ranking first in the league in points per game, the Grizzlies rank second in rebounds and assists per game, and fifth in field goal percentage.
After scoring 42 points in the fourth quarter against the Raptors, the Grizzlies have scored 118 total points in their last three fourth quarters (39.3 average). Memphis is clicking on all cylinders right now and the timing couldn't have been better with their huge matchup against the West's number one Oklahoma City Thunder on tap for February 8th.
