In a time that hasn't featured a lot of good news for the Grizzlies lately, the fanbase has something to look forward to. The Grizzlies are giving Olivier-Maxence Prosper a two-year standard contract after the season he's been having. After signing a two-way contract with the Grizzlies this summer, he has more than capitalized on his opportunity.

Once a first-round pick, Olivier-Maxence Prosper was waived by the Mavericks despite drawing trade interest from multiple teams. The Grizzlies quickly ended up signing him to a two-way contract, and it has gone extremely well. The Grizzlies have a great recent track record of two-way contract signings landing standard contracts, and Olivier-Maxence Prosper is now the next.

For the season he is averaging 7.6 points and 3.1 rebounds in 15.8 minutes per game. However, his strong February performances, which saw him average 13 points and 5 rebounds in an expanded role, made the decision to give him a contract even easier.

His case for a contract was already strong early in the year

In the preseason and the early stages of the regular season, Olivier-Maxence Prosper immediately stood out due to his hustle and athleticism. Even though he was a bit raw offensively going into the season, it's clear that he's dynamic and able to get to the rim. However, his growth as a shooter and ability off the ball have made him a more complete player.

Olivier-Maxence Prosper's off-ball ability and the energy he brings every night made it a no-brainer choice for the Grizzlies to give him a standard contract. There has been plenty of movement with the roster throughout the season due to injuries and trades, but it was evident that he was going to land on a standard deal at some point this season.

The Grizzlies have an intriguing group of forwards

One of the things that should really help the Grizzlies rebuild faster is their current group of young forwards. Guys like GG Jackson II, Taylor Hendricks, Jaylen Wells, and Olivier-Maxence Prosper all have the potential to really make their mark on the roster these coming months.

It is very nice to see how much Olivier-Maxence Prosper has improved this season. Even though he could not carve out a role in Dallas, the Grizzlies pounced on this development opportunity and have made the most of it.

To start the rebuild, the Grizzlies have a capable group of young, promising forwards, and signing a guy like Olivier-Maxence Prosper should make fans feel even better about the bench.
