It only took one game for Cam Boozer to prove he is the perfect Memphis fit

We finally got to see Cam Boozer in a Grizzlies jersey, and he got off to the dream start in Summer League. It was only the first Summer League game, but Boozer showed the full package of why he fits the Grizzlies to perfection. The Grizzlies may have found their dream offensive engine to help lead their rebuild in Cam Boozer.

Cam Boozer played 24 minutes and ended with 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists while shooting 7/11 from the field. However, we already saw how he will impact the Grizzlies beyond just the stat sheet. Boozer already showed an ability to make his teammates around him better, and the offense flowed really nicely with him on the floor throughout the game.

Boozer's upside shouldn't be counted out so early

Probably the biggest standout ability from his debut was how impressive his passing vision is. Boozer's quick processor and passing out of the post will unlock the offense around him even from Day 1. Boozer wasn't the leading scorer of the game, but his blend of passing and variety of ways to score should be an easy sell as to why he can dominate in Memphis very early on.

Some draft analysts feared how well Boozer would score from the mid-range at the next level, but Boozer hit a nice turnaround fadeaway over lottery pick Aday Mara and hit a smooth baseline mid-range jumpshot towards the end of the game. Plus, if anything, Boozer's potential as a mid-range scorer should help give him a safe floor in the league.

Despite Boozer's upside being questioned by some compared to other top prospects this class, he should still be able to have significant upside if he keeps building on his current strengths. Boozer can shoot threes and score from the mid-range while also being efficient at the rim as well.

The top 4 in the 2026 NBA Draft class all have the potential to accomplish great things, but Cam Boozer to Memphis is already looking like the seamless fit that everyone hoped for. The Grizzlies have a lot of crucial rotation pieces on this year's Summer League squad, but the most exciting part is we haven't seen Cam Boozer play next to Zach Edey yet.

It is still very early into the summer, but it's already clear why the Grizzlies were so confident in selecting Cam Boozer third overall. There is still plenty of time before the Grizzlies can think about being a contender. But if there is a player who can lead them there eventually, it could end up being Cam Boozer.
