Free agency has moved quickly over the last several days. The Grizzlies have already made one signing to improve the roster. However, everyone is wondering if Zach Randolph and Tony Allen will be back in the Beale Street Blue next season.

There are three things that are certain in life: Death, taxes, and Chris Wallace signing a player from Kansas who was a McDonald’s All-American. No, but really, this stat is just really insane when you think about all of the NBA players who have played at Kansas:

By signing Ben McLemore to a two-year, $10.7 million deal, the Memphis Grizzlies have made their first real move of free agency. Though he’s still raw, McLemore has the potential to be the shooting guard of the future for the Grizzlies.

However, this deal has restricted what the Grizzlies are able to do as far as cap space is concerned. There are still moves that could be made to create more cap space to get another player or two. However, it appears more and more unlikely that the Grizzlies bring back both Zach Randolph and Tony Allen. So what’s the latest news on Z-Bo and Tony Allen?

Pretty much nothing.

There has been almost zero news about them the last few days. Zach Randolph supposedly had meetings with the Clippers, Thunder, and Kings. However, none of those teams seem like likely destinations, and no reports have emerged the last few days. No one has reported anything at all about Tony Allen as well.

Though this is strange, no news may be good news for those who wish to see them finish their careers in Memphis. The fact that Tony Allen hasn’t met with anyone is a good sign that he wants to remain in Memphis. The lack of follow-up news for Zach Randolph suggests the same for him as well. They both aren’t looking hard elsewhere because they want to be Grizzlies once again.

Grit ‘N’ Grind Forever?

The Grizzlies’ current money situation makes it very difficult for them to re-sign both Tony Allen and Zach Randolph. Other teams, such as the Sacramento Kings, may be willing to offer them much more money.

However, if both of them are willing to take the veteran’s minimum, there is a chance, however small, that both could return to the Memphis Grizzlies to finish their careers. It seems only fitting considering how much they both seem to want to retire in Memphis.
