Brendan Smart: Jarell Martin had a lot of great dunks in his career, but none quite like this fastbreak slam which he led and finished!

As seen directly below, Martin takes one look at Mike Conley off of a tipped ball, but never passed. He retained possession. He just took off toward the basket. Jarell took off like a bolt of lightning for a big guy of his size.

On this fastbreak, Jarell showed a little in and out move against the Orlando Magic’s Bismack Biyombo. What is crazy in this sequence is that Biyombo is typically the last guy to get dunked on. He prides himself on stuffing opponents in the paint on a nightly basis. Being so, this entire sequence was special for Memphis Grizzlies fans. Jarell Martin ran the break and then executed by slamming it home on the big man!

Though this was a moment within preseason action in 2017, it really showed the momentum Jarell Martin carried into his third NBA season. He carried a chip on his shoulder heading into preseason play, and he made the most of his minutes from start to finish in 2017-18. It is no wonder he most recently recorded his best season yet.
