Offensive Struggles

The Grizzlies offense runs solely through Conley and Gasol for long stretches which makes it difficult for other guys to get going.

Jaren Jackson Jr. has been big on the offensive end but many games he has struggled to get a good amount of shot attempts for a variety of reasons.

Some games he is in foul trouble while others they decide not to make him a priority. It’s easier said than done but he needs to get more touches.

Through the first 19 games of the season, 51.5 points per game of the 103 have come from Jackson, Gasol, or Conley. With Conley leading the way at 20.3 per game.

It’s good that 50% of the offense goes through those three but outside of them, they’re limited in many ways.

For how much Temple is seeming to struggle it’s more just him coming back down to earth. He has never been an elite three-point shooter so it is unreasonable to expect him to shoot like that for a full season.

The Grizzlies play a slow pace of basketball so they’re gonna be near the bottom of many categories but they have done surprisingly well in some as well, most notably three-point percentage.

Memphis has never been a good three-point shooting team but they have been this season. They’re shooting 36.7% from deep which ranks 6th in the NBA.

If they can continue to shoot the ball at a high level the offense should be good enough to stay afloat until they start playing better and before Brooks returns.
