What’s WIth the Drama?!

Behind the “Swaggy P” nickname, it is easy to comprehend Nick Young is all about the drama. He is a TMZ-type of player. He likes to bring attention to himself off the court — and it is largely unnecessary.

At this point in the season, the last thing the Memphis Grizzlies need is drama in the locker room. Though it appears Young did not pull any publicity stunts during the 20 days he was a member of the Denver Nuggets, he remains a ticking time-bomb.

He is at the top of the list of NBA players that opens his mouth with a poor choice of words, along with the intent to throw his name into the media spotlight. Though any potential deal would likely be worth the league’s minimum salary for a veteran player, do the Grizzlies really need to risk their locker room stability with a former Los Angeles Clippers villain?

On the court, Nick Young is one of the most common suspects in Shaquille O’Neal‘s “Shaqtin’ A Fool” episodes featuring players’ biggest in-game blunders. Grizzlies fans have been accustomed to Tony Allen‘s missed layups and even a sideline interference with a sweat towel in a playoff game, but Young takes the conversation to an entirely different level of awkward.

In touching upon his Clippers days once again, it would be salt in the wound for Nick Young to have some major mishaps in a Grizzlies uniform after bouncing Memphis from the postseason in 2013. That pain lives on, and it is enough to warrant Young to stay out of the Grizzly locker room.
