The Memphis Grizzlies are utilizing their farm team — the Memphis Hustle — more than ever. Though the Grizz conduct a lot of assignments of young guys that are already placed on their main roster and showcase few call-ups, last season is a prime example that 10-day chances could soon arrive.

Consider the Grizzlies’ downward trend, which is very similar to 2017-18. In both seasons, Memphis began on a hot streak and turning heads across the association. Then, 20 or so games into the season, rough patches have been sustained. Fast-forward a few more weeks, and the losses are piling up. Tank much?

The mounting losses along with injuries forced the Front Office’s hand to take a few flyers on members of the Memphis Hustle. The same could occur this season, especially if the team’s record continues to head south.

One intriguing Hustle player is Dusty Hannahs. He is a Sixth Man, but he is a lights-out shooter that could make an instant impact with the Grizzlies. He is a 6’3″ guard that can get it going with ease from outside.

Through 23 games, Hannahs is shooting a hot 50% from the field, including a blistering 47.6% from beyond the arc. Through 40 regular season games, the Memphis Grizzlies’ best outside shooters have been JaMychal Green (38.3%) and Shelvin Mack (38.2%). These are not exactly the results or the names the team has been wanting to see from long-range.

In order to secure victories, Memphis needs a boost from three-point land. While the overall veteran free-agent market may not boast the sharpest of sharpshooters the Grizzlies would want, Dusty Hannahs’ sweet shot is undeniably stellar. He deserves his first sniff of the NBA.
