Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers have been famous for their “Trust The Process” and that starts with their star big man Joel Embiid. He was the 3rd overall pick in the 2014 draft which was the first of four straight picks in the top three of the draft.

They have continued to be patient throughout their rebuild with both the players and the coach. The players have dealt with many injuries and they have continued to stand by them and let them get the rest needed to be ready for the future.

They have continued to stand by Brett Brown despite not a very good first four seasons at the helm. Even after these past two seasons of 50+ wins he has just a 178-314 record during his six seasons as the head coach.

The 76ers have drafted two young superstars at the top of the draft in Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, but they also have some bad selections as well. Markelle Fultz was the number one pick in 2017 and Jahlil Okafor was the number three pick in 2015 and neither of them is still with the team.

They stayed patient during their rebuild years and they have benefited from that in a big way. Tanking has both its pros and cons, but when you’re able to get two of the young superstars in the game it makes it well worth it.

All those rebuild years and stockpiling assets helped them get in a position to make blockbuster deals to go all in like they have. They traded for both Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris this season to help make a push for a championship.

We’ll have to wait and see how their season ends and if they re-sign both of those guys, but they have built a very talented roster and their patience is a big reason why. The Grizzlies already have one young star in Jaren Jackson Jr. so maybe this could be a strategy for them to consider.
