Memphis Grizzlies goal No. 3: Win 26+ games

This goal goes hand-in-hand with the last goal, but it’s important to put a number on this. Yes, playing day-to-day will get you wins, but it’s crucial to have a number in mind so that your team knows when to kick it into the next gear.

The Grizzlies have 40 games remaining on their schedule. Right now, the 8th seed in the Western conference, the Dallas Mavericks, sit at 18-16. If you measure this out to a full 72-game season, it would give them a record of just over 40 wins.

The picture gets a little blurry because of cancelations, but if the Grizzlies want a playoff spot, they’ll have to set a goal to surpass this win total. They accomplish that goal, and they’re at least in the play-in series.

26 wins, however, would mean that they have to finish the season with a record of 26-14. It’s not far fetched, but they’ve got some forward steps to take before they get there.

With a full lineup intact, this squad has the potential to get to that win total, but it’s not going to be easy. Let’s hope Jaren Jackson Jr. is ready to play upon his return, because this Grizzlies team will need to be elite for the final stretch of the year.
