Memphis Grizzlies goal No. 2: Earn an outright playoff spot

In all likelihood, the Grizzlies will be participating in the play-in tournament. Because of the shortened season, teams will have an opportunity to play for the 7th and 8th seeds in the NBA Playoffs. The Grizzlies are just outside of the picture right now, so this is their most likely landing spot in 2021.

That being said, it should be a huge goal for this team to win enough games to the point that they have an outright playoff spot. This would mean that they would position themselves with the 6th seed or higher, giving them a guaranteed chance to compete for a title.

But this won’t come easy, with a brutal schedule ahead. The Grizzlies will have to come up against teams that they have already struggled against. They’ll look to flip the results in these games with the presumed return of their star power forward in Jaren Jackson Jr.

If the Grizzlies can get 6 seed or higher, it would be a message to the NBA that Taylor Jenkins and his team are here to stay.
