Memphis Grizzlies PG Ja Morant has been a difference-maker for the team

Ja Morant came into this season with very high expectations not just from Grizzlies fans, but from NBA fans as a whole. Has he met those expectations?

It’s safe to say that Ja has definitely thrived at what we knew he was good at. He has shown he can get to the bucket, finish around the rim, and bring intensity, leadership, and energy to the floor. Not only that, he makes everyone around him better, finding open teammates and showing excellent instincts and court vision.

However, he hasn’t shown as much improvement in his shooting as many fans had hoped so far. He almost seems to have taken a small step back.

Morant’s field-goal percentage and three-point percentage have both dropped in his second season, only making about 45% and a lackluster 23% respectfully. He also had missed eight games due to injury, and along with the COVID-19 hiatus, it may be difficult for him to find his groove offensively.

Overall, Morant has been a key piece to the Grizzlies’ success thus far and when his shooting comes along, he will be among the best point guards in the league.
