Almost all Memphis Grizzlies losses have the same pattern

Before I really go in on Taylor Jenkins, I’d like to preface that on a wider scale, he has done an excellent job thus far. Memphis has overperformed incredibly this season and Jenkins has put them in a position to compete for a playoff spot. That said, they need to do better right now.

As a fan, it’s extremely frustrating to see your favorite team consistently lose games that they should be winning. I wish that this was the first time that Memphis had taken a horrible loss to a clearly inferior team, but I’d need more than one hand to count the number of times that has happened.

And it feels like the same story every time.

An early lead by the Grizzlies that turns into a comeback for the opposing team with no offense to speak of from Memphis in the fourth quarter. It’s okay though, the Grizzlies can close out the game with free throws. Oh, wait, no they can’t, they just shot under 50% from the charity stripe in the second half. Sound familiar?

That’s what happened against the Oklahoma City Thunder earlier in the year, the Orlando Magic on Saturday, and the Dallas Mavericks somewhere in between.

Three key factors in this fall directly into Taylor Jenkins’ lap.
