Sportsnaut proposed a hypothetical trade involving Zion Williamson, Ja Morant, and Jaren Jackson Jr.

If you’re a die-hard Memphis Grizzlies fan, you may want to shield your eyes here. Not only does this trade involve Ja Morant, but it also focuses on Jaren Jackson Jr., the Grizzlies’ forward who only played in 11 regular-season games this season.

At this point, it’s clear that Williamson wants out. When you’re looking throughout the NBA at players who can match Ja Morant’s potential around his same age, Williamson may be his only match. That said, this trade might have gone too far.

Here’s what the hypothetical looked like from Sportsnaut.com:

On the surface, this trade is jarringly lopsided. The Grizzlies just saw Ja Morant take huge steps in 2020-21 and even though Jaren Jackson Jr. never got into a groove this past season, he was the team’s 4th-overall pick in 2018, averages over 15 points per game in his career, and is a defensive menace.

Zion Williamson, on the other hand, is a much more productive player than either Jackson Jr. or Morant, at least on paper. He averaged over 27 points per game in 2020-21 and was virtually unstoppable in the paint.

But would this trade ever happen?
