Ayo Dosunmu could develop into one of the NBA’s best sixth men with the Memphis Grizzlies

When looking for reasons for drafting Ayo Dosunmu, you don’t have to search for a long time. Ayo was an elite point guard for a top ten team in college, carrying his team all season long. His efforts would earn him a First-Team All-American honor.

The Illinois point guard was one of the best scoring PGs in the country, shooting the ball extremely efficiently at a high volume and scoring in the paint. Ayo dropped 39% of his 3-point attempts in his final season, improving his percentage by double digits from a season prior.

He would serve as a point guard who could space the floor, something that the Grizzlies don’t currently have. Most of the issues in his game were worked out by his final season with Illinois, as he took better shots and made smarter passes in his final season.

Ayo doesn’t have elite athleticism but that shouldn’t be an issue, as his playstyle could compliment an extremely athletic Ja Morant. While Morant is not a great shooter, Ayo could jump into the game and cause defenses to need a drastic change.

Regardless, he’s fast enough to blow by most college defenders and would not be considered slow by any stretch.

There isn’t a single Grizzlies fan in the world who will complain about Tyus Jones as a backup but Dosunmu could prove the Grizzlies better shooting and more scoring, two things that they were desperately searching for last season.

But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows.
