Memphis Grizzlies Lineup No. 3: The “everyone’s injured” lineup

PG: Tyus Jones

SG: De’Anthony Melton

SF: Ziaire Williams

PF: Santi Aldama

C: Killian Tillie

Let’s be honest, every team has a few games each season where seemingly every starter is either injured or resting. Last year, the most unique lineup we saw in a situation line involved Tyus Jones, Desmond Bane, Justise Winslow, Xavier Tillman, and Killian Tilllie in a back-to-back scenario against the Sacramento Kings

Even more strangely — it worked. The Grizzlies got the win. Granted, the Kings had already closed up shop for the season, but it was still a promising game.

It may seem ridiculous to even post a lineup like this. That said, it’s also extremely important to show up with a unique lineup for a few games each season. When else are you going to learn what players like Santi Aldama and Killian Tillie can do in a starting role? As we learn in international basketball, some players are capable of taking over a game if they’re given an elevated role.

Last year, the Grizzlies used a similar lineup and learned a lot about Tillie, who dropped 16 points, going 3-6 from deep and, perhaps most notably, posted a team-high (+/-) of +13.

Next. Grizzlies' silence in free agency is expected. dark

We even learned more about guys like De’Anthony Melton, who wasn’t in the starting lineup. Melton looked like a man among boys for a while, especially on the defensive end. He recorded 2 steals and 2 blocks in just over 20 minutes.
