Fans can expect to see Brandon Clarke early in games for the Memphis Grizzlies next season

Anyone who has watched Jaren Jackson, Jr. for any significant amount of time knows that he has a problem with fouling too much.

In fact, Jackson, Jr. led the entire NBA in fouls per game in his first two seasons, averaging 3.8 fouls per game in his rookie season and 4.1 fouls per game in his sophomore season. Last season, in his limited time, was back down to an average of 3.8 fouls per game for the Memphis Grizzlies.

Because he fouls so much, he often has to get subbed out early in games. NBA coaches almost universally pull a player— no matter how valuable— after committing their second foul in the first half of games.

For these reasons, Brandon Clarke is a good bet to see come off the bench first for the Memphis Grizzlies next season. Clarke’s game is unique but shares some similar strengths as Jackson, Jr.

Clarke can block shots, get tough rebounds and knock down an open three occasionally. His athleticism and toughness set the tone for the bench and is often a great spark of momentum for the team when he hits the floor.
