The Memphis Grizzlies could find a potential suitor for Tyus Jones with their Eastern Conference counterparts

The Atlanta Hawks are a team very similar to the Memphis Grizzlies.

Both young teams are headlined by star point guards and versatile big men: Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson, Jr. for the Grizzlies and Trae Young and John Collins for the Hawks.

Atlanta needs a steady point guard, with playoff experience, to take the reigns of the offense if Young gets injured or is in foul trouble in late-game situations.

The Memphis Grizzlies could offer a package of Tyus Jones, Kyle Anderson, and Brandon Clarke in exchange for Danilo Gallinari and Cam Reddish.

Atlanta gets playoff-ready players, depth, and cap savings beginning next season with the expiring deals of Jones and Anderson. Clarke, a versatile forward/center would give a dynamic pick and roll option for Young and would be a cheap, young plug-and-play player. Jones and Anderson would help Atlanta make a serious push into the upper tier of the Eastern Conference.

The Memphis Grizzlies, in exchange, would get Cam Reddish — the 10th overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft who has been plagued by injuries and buried in the depth chart. The price for acquiring someone with such potential would be to absorb the contract of Danilo Gallinari, who has two years remaining on his $20.4 million per year contract. Atlanta will need to start cleaning up their payroll to begin paying their two max-contract players (Young and Collins).

The Grizzlies could start Gallinari or Reddish, giving time for rookie Ziaire Williams time to develop and prepare for the rigors of the NBA.
