Studs and Duds from statement win over Brooklyn Nets
Studs from Memphis Grizzlies big-time win over Brooklyn Nets
Let’s take a look at some of the players who had huge performances in the team’s second win this season over the Nets.
De’Anthony Melton, Memphis Grizzlies
The real hero tonight was De’Anthony Melton, who poured in a total of 23 points, coming just short of tying his career-high of 25 points.
Melton scored 20 of his 23 points in the first half, which enabled the Grizzlies to take command of the game and left Brooklyn scratching their heads as to what they could do to slow down the suddenly hot-handed former USC product.
Melton ended the game with six made three-pointers and 4 rebounds in 27 minutes of action. His first half heroics were a big reason why the Grizzlies were able to take command of this game.
Steven Adams, Memphis Grizzlies,
The anchor of the frontcourt, Steven Adams did a little bit of everything against the Nets. The sage veteran on this young team stuffed the stat sheet with 7 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists, a block and a steal.
Included in that figure is his 5 offensive rebounds, which is something few players best the New Zealander.
Kevin Durant, Brooklyn Nets
In a shock to no one, Kevin Durant— arguably the best player on the planet, had a sensational performance against the Grizzlies.
The 33-year-old ended the game with 35 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. It’s the third consecutive game in which one of the best players in the NBA has scored 35 or more points.
Durant is peaking at just the right time, but will his teammates be able to catch-up in time for the playoffs?
Kyrie Irving, Brooklyn Nets
With fresh legs and armed with the news that he will now be able to play in home games in Brooklyn, Kyrie Irving reminded NBA fans why he’s one of the premiere point guards in the league.
Uncle Drew dropped 43 points, marking the third time in his last four games in which he’s scored 43 or more in a game.
With Irving being cleared to play his home games in Brooklyn, expect the Nets to get even more dangerous, just in time for the playoffs.
