Strengths

Jaren Jackson Jr. had a fantastic rookie season. He was expected to make a big defensive impact right away, but his offensive impact has been a pleasant surprise. It was expected to be a work in progress, but he showed that he already has a lot of skill and ability on that end of the court.

He was able to score the ball in so many different ways from anywhere on the floor. He was efficient in doing so as well as he posted splits of 51-36-77. Those are very good numbers for a rookie big man and he will have a chance to improve upon those in a big way.

His ability to drive to the basket and finish might’ve been the most impressive thing about his offense during his rookie season. He was able to drive to the rim and finish in a variety of ways such as with Hookshots and dunks. When he was inside the restricted area he converted 69% of his shots which was where he did the majority of his damage.

His three-point shooting was a big plus with most of them coming from the top of the arc where he converted 41% of his shot attempts. Inside or outside it doesn’t matter, this dude was able to score the ball at will when he was able to get into a rhythm.

He is a fantastic offensive player, but his defense is a big part of his game as well. His shot blocking was impressive and that gives him a chance to become an all-defense type of player in the future. If he’s going to be a power forward for the long haul he needs to improve a little bit with his on-ball defense, but with his quickness and length, he was still able to make a big impact on that end of the floor.

We have seen him make an impact on both ends of the floor. When he becomes the star of this team he needs to embrace it and continue to put in the hard work. While he did have a great season next are some of the areas he needs to improve in if he wants to reach the next level.
