Memphis Grizzlies F Jaren Jackson Jr. was never able to get back into a groove after his return from injury

Jaren Jackson Jr. should have an asterisk next to his name on this list. The Grizzlies’ starting power forward was injured for most of the season, coming in as a relief for the end of the season. Including regular season and playoffs, JJJ only played in 18 games this past season.

For a lot of players, this wouldn’t be an issue, but Jackson Jr. is the type of player that needs to settle in. This is evident if you look at his rookie year, the last time he had to warm up to the NBA level.

In his first dozen games in the league, the former Michigan State big man went just 5-27 from deep. For a young player, this wasn’t unexpected. His second year was kicked off with an 0-6 shooting night. Both of those seasons saw him eventually settle in.

In 2021, he wasn’t given that time to settle in.

Expect his 3-point shooting numbers to improve drastically from the 28.3% that we saw in his short stint in 2021, as he has shown that he can be one of the best shooting big men in the league.

He’ll be putting up a lot of shots with the next player listed, another forward who struggled to get the ball in the bucket from deep.
