The Memphis Grizzlies could benefit from a proven, experienced three-time NBA All-Star in Ben Simmons

It may be hard to admit it right now, but Ben Simmons could be traded to the Memphis Grizzlies and he would instantly become the best player on the team. Ja Morant is great, but his game has a handful of kinks to work out.

Simmons, on the other hand, is a strong all-around player with just a single weakness in his shooting.

He would instantly elevate the Grizzlies’ defense, even If the team’s offense saw a slight regression. That said, Memphis found themselves finishing 15th offensively in the league this past season and 16th defensively. The team was completely average on both sides of the ball, struggling to build an identity.

Bringing Simmons in would instantly solidify them as a defensive force to be reckoned with. This would send Memphis down a distinct path, and one that they would be forced to commit to down the road.

Memphis would also be adding a 24-year old three-time NBA All-Star to a squad that has a handful of potential All-Stars already on the roster. Even if Simmons isn’t the most beloved player in the league right now, he would elevate this team to a squad that makes it beyond the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

That said, there are a few distinct issues that come along with bringing Simmons onto the team.
