Memphis Grizzlies could offer expiring contracts in offseason trades

The team has a plethora of player contracts that will expire after the 2022-23 season. Teams like Utah and Brooklyn, if going the rebuilding route, will want big contracts to come off the books as quickly as possible.

Here is the current list of players with expiring contracts for the Memphis Grizzlies next season:

  • Steven Adams, $17.9 million
  • Dillon Brooks, $11.4 million
  • Danny Green, $10 million
  • Brandon Clarke, $4.3 million
  • Killian Tillie, $1.9 million

Any of these players would be intriguing pieces to add to a blockbuster deal. All of these players are younger than 30 and can be starter-level players (except for Tillie).

Conversely, if the Grizzlies wanted to hold on to these players until the trade deadline, they may be able to squeeze out a decent return for someone looking for a last-second roster tune-up before the playoffs.

Any of these players could be extended this offseason and locked up long-term. Expect Clarke and Brooks to get first consideration from the front office for new deals among those in this list.
